heh.. yep, widescreen is the wave of the future, or so i've been told.. i remember some company making one that was like that, only it was long, not wide, and it was monochrome.. hehe.. anyways, i just dropped a G on my lcd, by the time I need another screen, widescreen LCD's should be fairly cheap :)

Hehe, yeah thats one nice crt. But imo if you're going that far, might as well go lcd. . . in fact this bad boy from samsung http://www.samsungusa.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?employeeLogin=&prod_id=241MP-Silver
Its HDTV capable like the apple HD 23" cinema display. I would love to have that sony, but a. I have no room for it and b. I don't want to be lifting that thing, i'm too lazy :D.

Wow, that's a serious neck. But it's really $1600 or so, not $2500, unless you're shopping in the wrong places.

Talking about quality not space. No ghosting. Just gaming, movies and dual full screens. LCD is not yet up CRT in many aspects IMO.
100 pounds of goodness!

Though if space was the issue, I'd be hard pressed to find better than that samsung or that sweet apple(sweet apple  ).
...apple pie, apple fritter, candied apples, caramel covered apples...

:P

As far as gaming and movies go. . . the samsung or apple (23" made by LG) are excellent performers. Only reason to go crt these days are if you are in the photo editing industry and need true colors for editing. Other than that. . . save yourself a hernia  Plus I have seen video and games on the apple cinema display  Not too many crts to match it really. NO ghosting from what I saw. But . . . damn that price tag, for now I'll have to stick with my 80 pound nec 22" crt :D.

So my question is.. in terms of whats better for your eyes, is LCD or CRT's better? My rationalization for buying my 20" lcd was that it would be easier on my eyes.. or did i just do the exact opposite of what i should have done, and got a nice big crt instead?

Nuts,
LCDs are generally a little easier on the eyes. Unless its at a bad angle or low quality. When it goes past a certain amount of frames per second there is some ghosting(lots on older ones). Some people dont mind, I do.

Cf,
I was wondering the same thing but I forgot to post it. Ah, great minds.......
Still its a "24 inch, 100 pounds of goodness C R T!"

Say it with me people, "24........."

One good thing with lcds is that you don't have a gun shooting radiation beams at you. . . suprsied I haven't gotten any cataracts or tumahs in mah peepahs. . . . Hmm maybe these contacts I wear ARE UV coated hehe.

those 2x2 or 5x1 setups are nice, but id rather have a projection display or vr goggles. a widescreen projector and a 21" crt or lcd would be sweet. i wish that vr would become more of a home thing. its been out so long and it seems that current systems would be able to handle it, at least in the same capacity of older vr only units. vr would give first person shooter a whole new meaning
