wow. that's all i can say.

last night saw tool live at the breslin center in e.lansing. THIRD ROW, just left of center stage!! my best friend from high school is a total tool freak (this was his 12th show), and he camped out for tickets, and did he ever get good ones. we were probably about 12 feet from adam (the guitarist) and 20 feet from maynard (we were slightly left from the center of the stage).

the show was just freaking amazing. i'm not a huge tool fan....i listen to their music casually, have a couple cds, etc, but seeing it live was just incredible. the band is so powerful and they take such an interesting approach to performing that the show is just very moving.

the visual experience of the show just f---s with your mind too. all the crazy modern art, etc.

i think the most incredible moment was the second to last song in the show, when the drummer from mesuggah (their opener), came out and did a 10-minute drum jam with tool's drummer, danny. justin, the bassist, was playing some, and maynard and adam both added little guitar parts, but it was basically two drumers just going absolutely f---ing nuts on the drums.

anyway, the show just rocked, start to finish (although mesuggah sucks, imo). the crowd, especially down in the front where we were, was great. it was mostly people who really cared about the music and wanted to rock with tool, not some obnoxious posers who wanted to see and be seen

so yeah, good times.

I've always wanted to see Tool live. I've heard they are one of the best bands to see live.

I've probably seen tool about 15 times.. Though I'm not an avid tool fan.. My brother is though, and he insists on watching the live concert every night when he goes to sleep..

I'd have to agree.. I mean, I DO like Tool.. alot.. but, I wouldn't call myself a diehard fan.. actually, no band would make me want to camp out for tickets.. I figure you can hear the music just as well from the back row as you can from the front.

Regardless of where are sitting, you can totally feel the energy they put out into their music.. That said, Tool HAS to possibly be the best stage performance of any band I've seen, with Incubus trailing behind.

If Tool is near your area, I'd suggest going to see them.. Even if you don't like them, at least experience it once in your lifetime.. Then you will see for yourself that not all musicians are spoiled and put no emotion or feeling into their music.. I feel that I bonded with the music when I was at a show..

just my .02c

I'll stick with my Ozzy and Iron Maiden. I love tool, but I love the old stuff lot more.
