View Full Version : i love my new fridge!
ok, so it's not so new. it's not fancy-shmancy. in fact, it's kinda "old and busted." but it's just...well it's hard to explain. maybe this will help:

 this is just a start ;)
Well, I see you've acclimated to buy Yuengling, that's a start. I've never had their porter, but I'm not a Porter Guy. And from the looks of it, you have no issue with the "PA sucks so you'll have to buy a whole case" law...
New stat motto: "Welcome to PA, we have a Liquor Control Board, they make getting drunk a pain in the ass."
i initially had an issue with it, until i got out the calculator and figured out how much beer i really bought vs how much i would have paid per 6 pack if i had bought them "normally." it's a minor inconvenience to have to go to a "beer distributor" vs just buying along with the groceries, but i think i'll live.

Yeah, I suppose it's cheaper in the long run, but sometimes I don't want to buy and have to drink a whole case of a particular beer. And the beer distributor thing is all a sham. The LCB is in everone's pockets, and they're lifetime appointments, so they pretty much do as they please.
oh, i don't doubt it's a sham. but i'm trying to feel better about it, so help a guy out huh :P
Right, sorry about that. ;)

I should hope so young man!
Since I have never heard of that beer, it made me think of the micro-brew festival I went to this weekend. I tried about 10 different types of beers. Good stuff, makes me realize what crap is commonly made available *cough*Budweiser*cough*
Mojo, you need someone to cook for you!

I'm glad to see you have no food in there ;) It gets in the way of the beer sometimes!
All a man needs is beer and chips, and the occasional philly cheesteak. :D

in my michigan history class last monday, we discussed the beer industry (detroit used to be home to strohs). It was a great conversation. we talked about some of the old ads used for beer, which just totally sucked, then budweiser came along with the idea of throwing chicks in bikinis into the ad holding a beer.
Needless to say, it was one of mans greatest revolutions. Thats how budweiser became the #1 selling beer. I guess budlight is supposed to be #2.
I prefer the darker, richer beers with an ocassional woodchuck cider thrown in every once in a while.
best semidomestic beer has to be labatts though.

Ok you just suck! I have been hoarding my Yvengling stash that I had brought over by my friends when they came to visit me on the wrong side of the country. I have been carefully metering it out this entire time (its been over a year now) and am down to my last bottle!!
What I wouldnt give to hit the local beer distributor and get myself some Yvengling and Stoudts. Now if I could only figure out a cheap way to get the stuff shipped out here. The beer is so cheap its great, but add on the shipping costs...and suddenly its going to be like $8/sixpack.
Yuengling does have that perfect balance of quality and balance going for it. It's incredibly popular around here, and as far as I'm concerned, you haven't haven't had Yueling unless you've had it out of a tap.

Well I have been stuck out here for 4 years now, and yes I have had Strauss on tap. Its not bad, but to me Yvengling is SO much better. I actually have some Karl Strauss out in my beer fridge. (Yes, I have a separate fridge by the pool for beer.)
Currently in that fridge:
Yvengling
Karl Strauss
Saxter Lemon
Some Pumpkin beer - taste just like pumpkin pie
Bass ale
Corona - to mix with some Bacardi Limon
German beers - I forget which ones right now
i never have corona. well, maybe out here i may. but thing of it is, you can go to trader joe's and get rio clara for like $4/sixer. it's a decent corona clone :D
gordon biersch is also very good. way better than in the bottles. i think that's a chain tho, n'est pas?
anyhow, some of my fav california beers are actually from the bay area. beverages and more was nice enough to have them in a section on their own. i can't think of any off the top of my head right now.
my fav overall beer has to be moretti la rossa. i'm thinking about starting a "help a geek buy beer" website soon. if you wanna get a jump on the game, my paypal is
[email protected] :P (those are zeroes ;) )

does the fridge door have the customary bottle of ketchup that's needed in a bachelor's fridge? heh.
