Staples has a deal going until Saturday July 22nd (I think--call first) for $40. It came out to be $42.96 so that wasn't too bad. BTW it rocks w/ Glide. How does D3D look for everybody? I played it on a Rage Pro in D3D and it looked terrible.

2 off-topic posts deserve another. I'm tired of people bitching about sub-standard graphics in D2. Yes, the game looks a lot like it did in '97 in D1, but this game is NOT a 3D title, it's powered by a sophisticated 2D layering/compositing engine that has 3D enhancements for those with 3D support. What you give up is cutting edge 3D, but what you get in return is the ability for your hardware to support TONS of monsters and stuff on-screen at the same time. More monsters does NOT mean more lag in D2. The smooth gameplay is worth infinitely more to me than wow-ya 3D.

This is kinda off topic, but i find it very interesting that diablo 2 is already, as this post suggests "kinda old". I have been playing it for about 2 week, I seem to remember that it came out late june, early july, and already it is old. To what is this game industry coming? :-)

call your local Staples B&M to see if they're carrying it and if they pricematch. I got a great deal on D2.. pricematched with Google.com's $45, then added Centipede for $10, then applied a $25 off $50 coupon code and the special this weekend was 'buy $20 software, get Centipede free' so they took off the $10. end result.. D2 for a little under $25. it'll only work if your Staples pricematches and honors Staples.com codes. call 'em up.. it's worth 2 minutes to check.

a post in another forum just reminded me of a better deal.. possibly. those people that ordered a Symantec item from Amazon a few weeks ago are just getting their promised $20 Amazon SOFTWARE GCs. I got mine yesterday.. the deal was if you buy it, Amazon'll send you a $20 GC. like others, I didn't notice the fine print.. the GCs good for software purchases, only.

so here's the idea: buy/trade/swap for a couple $20 GC codes, use the $10/$20 HARRYPTTRSPC code and get D2 for practically nothing. check out the ForSale, ForTrade forums for people willing to trade their GCs.

Details, i got pretty lucky on this one, the cashier that i got the first time knew what i was about to pull. After she scanned everything, ( i bought quite a bit to try to throw them off) I told her about the pricematch, and she said ok but you cant use the coupon, OK, but there are other coupons, she's ok with that. Luckily she had to do something else and someone else came to complete my order, I told them about the 20 off diab2 coupon and it came off no prob.

I was buying something from outpost.com anyway, and I used the send 50 flooz and get 30 deal to get diablo 2 for 30 bucks. Outpost has free overnight shipping, so it isn't instant gratification, but it is pretty damn close.
