Help...installed new burner...not reading cd's

Whew! It's working. It was saying "Please insert disc in drive e:\" for a while there.

Okay, I was able to insert cd's and look at the files and now its asking me to insert to drive e again. And the shorcut to my e drive on my desk top says the source file is missing.

Anyone know what this problem is??

Ahhaaaahhh! It's giving me that message when I have the dang software open that came with the writer. I got the sony 48X internal that comes with Gold 5 something or other. When I close the software down, it read the cd's again.

Need more details.

The unit is set to slave or master and is on the right part of the cable.
You installed burn software from the same unit your trying to install or did it read off onother cd rom unit?
It sometimes reads but never writes?

regardless, try uninstalling the unit from sytem devices and reinstalling it. Remove all the software too.
