I have an AMD 1400 Tbird, I need a HSF that is near silent... I know that isn't possible, but if anyone can suggest something.
I currently have a 2100+ also and it is using a jet plane volcano 6+ and that is not an option.
I won't be overclocking, and the case can be left open and is in a 70-80 deg F zone. I am ready to buy so if you can help me or sell for that matter please post or email me. Thanks

Zalman CPU coolers are supposed to be pretty quiet and effective coolers.

I have heard others using brackets to attach larger quieter i.e. 70 to 80mm fans, to their heatsink. Have not seen it done but it is another option.

You could try the Volcano 7+ with the fan switch. My friend has this and runs it on med and low with no heat problems. Sure its going to run a little warm but not enough to hurt. I have the Volcano 9 and I have the adjustable fan and I run it on slow to med and it idles at about 36 degree cel. I don't like the noise. I have no stability problems so I don't think its getting to hot. They also have the fan sitchs available for sale online if thats all you need.
