i thought it was sorta funny because of seagates huge release of ide hard drives into more retail spaces ( best buy, fry's etc.) w/ the old logo and then to after only having them in stores for a few months if that changing everthing.

Can't say the new logo is thrilling. However it does fit in with the impressive changes of Seagate (http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/story.html?id=1036074305) lately.
