Yeah, I might have a way around it. Is it a parental monitoring thing? There was this program called triangle boy...if you have access to a CGI-BIN it will be a little easier.

Websense certainly does suck...we just started using it at work with the firewall. Worst part is new sites are added to the filter daily. Only way around it I know is to use one of the servers that are outside the F-wall.

well there are 2 ways around it.... one

have a proxy server set up on a publc IP and use that...or use soem of the free proxy servers online....

or...

do what i do most the time...connect to your pc at home (if you have broadband)

Goto Google... search for what you want and when you find it, click the "Cached" option. The page will display from within Google.com which, if allowed, should be the only thing that the websense will see.

It ain't perfect... but it's a way that will let you see some pages that you might not ordinarily be able to get to with websense active.

This is a link from the "Cached" option, you'll see what I mean.

Yep. Make friends with your Network Admin or who ever is in charge of the software, quickly. :-)

I tested it out for work, and it works VERY well, however since we use Macs and DHCP at work, it didn't do a very good job of showing us who was going where.

For PC it can pickup your login name to the domain, but since Macs don't log into the domain, all we had was an IP address that changed all the time and was just way to much trouble to keep track off.

Dave.

Muahaha, that was an awesome trick Dave. I tried it at work last night. Only problem is you can't browse the whole sites like this. As soon as I clicked links I got C blocked.

hrmm sounds like productivity is going down.... so maybe they installed it for a reason. like making their workers, that they are paying to work, instead of looking around on the internet, work.

isn't this a software question, ta boot?

The reason it was installed was because some people were looking at child porn, and I work at a childrens hospital.....
