personally, i didn't really have much interest in watching it, but a friend of mine went thru this hellish experience trying to see it earlier tonight because tickets were sold out everywhere...

i was like "was it really worth THAT much trouble??"
his reply, of course, was a resounding "NO"...

just curious what everyone else thought...

Went to dinner with a friend, had a few beers and saw it was playing right there. Didn't get the best seats cuz it was pretty full but it wasnt too bad.

Decent story, not as gritty as I thought it was gonna be. I thought they'd make it all "gangsta", you know to show us what a tough guy that M&M is.

Good rental if your not a fan. Worth seeing it now if you are.

The story itself is a good story and all and it has lots of potential; However, the movie is just not very good. The characters don't get developed well at all and there are lots of useless scenes. Lots of the raps in it are wack too. I guess they figure if they can write a good rhyme why waste it on a movie if you can cut a track and make millions. I guess it's a good movie if you're a fan.

i thought it was great, but i am from detroit and I noticed how a large majority of the movie was correct in the details. People from outside of detroit have the slightest clue on what 8 mile and 16 mile are, or what 810 and 313 area and stuff like that. They tryed to explain it some, but unless you were from the immediate area, you probably wouldnt know the signifigance of a lot of the things they talked about.

My fiance is from the west side of the state while i am from metro detroit. i had to explain things to her after the movie that she didnt really understand.

The detroit news had a great article on his at home life and talked to his friends and neighbors. EVeryone pretty much said that his public image is just a front to make him look like a thug. He is supposed to be a very loving father and quite polite neighbor. He used to live 6 miles down the road from my parents, but has since moved a bit closer to a gated community.

I saw it...and thought it was good....

We went and saw the 11:55 pm showing in Santa Monica on Saturday night and the show was sold out, and the theatre was packed, and the 12:35 showing was the exact same way.

With me personally, I do think that it was worth it to see...but that's just me :)

Well, if you don't want a story, this is the movie to see.

I agreee with you UT Memo, those rhymes were crap. I couldn't believe the things they were saying, it was on the same caliber of nuresry rhymes. The only ones who rapped decently was Xzibit and parts of the ending. It's one those movies that I'll have to see when the hype is over to tell if its any good.

My roommate saw it with his GF and he said it was decent. Entertaining if not fantastic.

I sort of agree with Nija, the plot was weak, but there was a moral behind it a little. I liked the raps though, thought they were funny...and there was meaning, just not real "story". I also hated the ending...it just...ended.
