circuit city and goodguys (in CA) and even Sears sometimes have "2 for $89 for 10 inch and 2 for $99 for 12 inch MTX subs...

i couldnt even believe i had 1000 watt 15 inch JBL GTI's and 600 clean watts and when i sold my car i put in 2 of these 12 inch mtx's and a 50 watt amp and the bass was NEARLY THE SAME!! of course less low bass but it still hit! I totally recommend them!

NO WAY!!! JL's are over rated. I have both 12" pair of thunder 7000, and a pair of 12" JL W-6's. I also run a Furi 1000w X 1 Ohm. The MTX is so much better. The JL's are good, don't get me wrong, but the MTX just bumps. I almost dynomatted my trucks cargo area, cuz the MTX was hitting so hard I thought I was gonna lose a License plate. Then I put the JL's in my Isobaric MDF box...disappointed. The JL's just don't have the kick an MTX can push. the JL's have nice sound, but BASS is MTX.

Jls and MTX are both cool, everyone has their preferences, i was just shocked though by these "cheapie" MTX 3000's 12 inch with small voice coils and 28 ounce magnets pounding like the JBL GTI's 15 inch with 300+ ounce magnets and 4 inch voicecoils!

Of course it has to do with other factors such as airspace and box optimization (they were run on a baffle in a Camaro hatch well, which is why the JBLS never performed as they could) but the MTX's really did perform well...I have seen MANY a small JL box loaded with 2 or 3 10s or 12s that simply pounds...
