They're at it again in Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. :)

/me starts the stopwatch to see how long it takes for ribitch to rebuttal.

But really, I'm suprised the dualy mac beat out the 2.54 P4 . . . quite fascinating. Guess there is some validity to the MHz fables.

I'm sure the official macphile response is goign to be issued soon.
They are all prolly in #MacLovers on irc.insiderz.net planning their official statement.

Hmm, did I read it wrong? It beat the Dell 2.53Ghz in 1 out of 9 test, and the Alienware in 4 out of 9.

Hmmm that's pretty interesting. The only thing I can say is that Final Cut Pro still kicks Premiere in the jimmy

Well maybe "beat out" was the wrong words, I'm just still sort of dumb-founded that two 1.25 GHz chips on a quasi-fully-gimped DDR ram setup could stay close to a 2.53 P4 that actually uses ram closer to its potential.

i'm back!

anyways, again another test by a dude who hates the powerpc platform. the tests can be skewed as we all know. Sure apple can beat the x86 at given tasks, and the x86 beats the powerpc at other tasks. This guy picked the tasks that the x86 does well on.

The test systems are not exactly equal. configured the same way, dvd burner, firewire and all, the dell comes out afew dollars more, thats without office on either system.

As any video edittor knows, they dont spend all of their time working in aftereffects, and thats the main focus of these tests. Most mac users also know after effects has little if any optimization for the powerpc as well as SMP.

I really dont give him credit for the tests. If he were to test in something a video editor uses more often, like avid since its cross platform, then maybe he can be more credible. Avid and FCP are industry editting standard apps. Apps like cleaner, combustion, and after effects are used, but very little if any of the overall editting job is done with those applications

as a side note, his past tests have showed him preferring the intel based systems over equally rated AMD systems.

I believe he once was able to show that a dual Athlon MP was beat several times in similar style tests by a single P4. All he really was able to show was once again, the apps in question, make little use of dual cpu systems

AE is far more optimized for x86 then Apple, and that was the focus of the test. Anyone could put thogether a bunch of tests that show the Apple beating the P4. That is, if they could afford both machines.

This review is FUD, not the responses.

Do you honestly think though that overall the mac is the faster of those two computers?

yeah so how much would a mac be if they used RD.... be realistic the mac gets beat and its still $600 more then the single p4. sure the rd makes a difference BUT the mac with the "cheap" ram is more then half a grand more or as id say, a whole duron system more.
