your favorite alcohol/mixed drinks

so im a newbie to this drinking thing. was just wondering what are some of your favorties? if beer...wut kind? if mixed drinks/cocktails....then what? wine or champagne? anything else...?

i recently just tried soju. it's a korean drink. i had peach soju and that was really good. :)

Homemade Chianti if you can get it is THE best wine ever..
Ice Wines are desert wines and are sickenly thick and sweet..(ugh)but sometimes after a really "strong" dinner- a few sips of an ice wine is a nice little touch..
I like White Zinfandel occaisonally and usually only in the summer..
for beer..my choice is def. GUINNESS..mmmm make sure it's warm..
and this past summer I found a new love-Ommegang beer, and Hennepin from the OMMEGANG brewery in cooperstown..one of these beers will knock you on your ass..AND THE FLAVOR IS AMAZING.

i usually drink beer or hard a (like straight vodka). I think corona is a pretty good beer, but everyone i know thinks i am strange. I do have those fruity drinks every now and then. there is one called a "stress reliever," it's pretty good.

in terms of bottled drinks, i hate beer, but i really like Smirnoff, Bacardi Silver, and Mike's Hard Lemonade

Like many have said, my current favorite is Stolies Vanilla Vodka, but I mix it with Diet Coke. That may seem odd, but try it out, it mixes much smoother than normal coke, or dr pepper or cream soda. You can make it a 50/50 mix and still cant taste the alcohol if you use diet coke.

I like Whiskey Sours every now and then.

Screw drivers do me right. I like Hairy Navels which is 2 pts OJ, 1 pt PEach Schnapps and 1 pt Vodka.

Also really good is Capt Morgans Silver Spiced Rum and Cherry 7 Up.

Scredirvers and Irish Car Bombs are nice. I also like gin and tonic. I know it's an old man's drink. I gotta try PB and J shots. Never had that. Ever try Dr. Pepper and I don't mean the soda. It's a shot.

I mainly drink martinis. If I'm feeling like something a little sweeter I'll have an apple martini. Gin and tonics are also quite good. I prefer the lighter liquors like vodka and gin as opposed to the darker ones like wiskey and scotch. And margaritas are always good.

all i know is, i HATE, ABSOLUTELY ABHOR tequila...

as far as mixed drinks, i do like screwdrivers, kamikazes, and seabreezes... guess i'm a bit of a citrus man...

i never liked beer either, till i had my first guinness off the tap... MMMMMMMM.... and like nija, i also like newcastle, and coronas aren't bad either...

Umm...ok...this is a strange question.

I'm pretty bad with alcohol. It just doesn't like me. My first time drinking was a Mike's which I drank in about 10 minutes. About 10 minutes after that, I got a headache and threw up later on. Pretty much when from drink to hangover in a couple of instants. I'm asian, and apparently, according to my Doctor/cousin, a lot of asians don't have an enzyme that breaks down alcohol.

However, I figure it's good to "learn" how to drink. Social drinking is a good thing to be able to do, and I can't. I've been thinking of having some alcohol at home just so I can drink a little in a safe setting. Does anyone have any advice on what to have? I'm looking for something simple for mixed drinks and some beer.

It's not dangerous really. I've had whole drinks before, just not in ten minutes.

When you drink alcohol (ethanol), your body turns it into a toxin (acetaldehyde) then breaks it down. Asians have good levels of the enzyme that turns it into a toxin (ALDH) but low levels of the enzyme that breaks down the toxin (ADH), that's why we get the asian flush. I can see that giving you the asian flush (some friends of mine actually get a rash). I don't know if you can increase your tolerance if you're allergic to it. Anyways, my advice... if you're going to try it anyways, drink a lot of water with it. Personally I just drink a little and pretend to get really messed up. Since I'm asian, nobody suspects that I'm faking. I can drink very little and then spend the rest of the day doing stupid stuff for fun without even being drunk (and best yet... no hangover the next day). :D
