High property taxes by no state income taxes, so it works out to be about teh same. Insurance is only bad if you live on the beach or a flood zone.

Granted, I'm from the "other side" of Florida (Northwest FL by way of Pensacola) where land values are generally cheaper than in the Southern part of the state.
BTW... State Income Taxes up North SUCK royally (Speaking from my experience of living in the MidWest).... as well as other excise taxes on such things as license plates and other personal property taxes.
hmmm.....i never thought our income taxes in michigan were that bad....i think it's 4.5%. granted, compared to 0% in FL, it's bad, but it seemed pretty low.
but "excise" taxes.....this is what i couldn't believe. when my GF moved to ohio, i went to the secretary of state's with her so she could get her license, etc. their fees are so low there, compared to michigan.
but....people in ohio still can't drive :hihi:
come on peoples...this is burz. it's another "get rich quick" scheme...right? maybe burz should tell us what's on his mind :hihi:

By the time they are done, they've cut about another 8% out of your income here. OUCH!!!! My butt hurts vicariously through my wallet... :bawl:
yeah, i feel ya. detroit has an income tax, as do jackson, lansing, and a few other cities in michigan. i don't know of any counties that have one though :disa: that's just wrong.
last year, because i was working out of state so much, i had to pay taxes to 4 states :( that sucks too because michigan taxes the income, as does each of the states that you earned the money in.
