i need to do about 100 screen captures, but for a small part of a screen. i was doing the whole "print screen, paste, crop, edit, save" process, but after about 7 pics i got sick of it. if there is a program that will cut out all the parts of this whole process except edit it would save me loads of time. i dont mind if it costs around $20 bucks or so but freeware is always a plus.
the red part is what i need to capture. its the same spot for every capture

i am assuming you are doing it on windows. I would just edit your capture in paint or photoshop
if on OS X, apple shift 4 will bring up cross hairs to allow you to define yor own screen shot size. If you press teh space bar after that, the system will auto highlight for you to select things from the dock or cetain winodws or menus.

I use Capture Pro from Creative Softworx (http://www.creativesoftworx.com/default.html) - it's $20 for a 'lite' version that probably does everything you need, or $35 for the pro version with all the bells & whistles. Cool little program - you can drag over an area, capture just a window, copy the entire screen, etc.

I believe ALT+Print Screen captures just the active window. It could be CTRL or SHIRT but I am pretty sure its ALT

I had a similar job about a month ago and used this FREE program. Easy to use but not rich on features and best of all it is free!

thanks for the suggestions everyone. yeah, ribitch, im using windows. i should have noted that it is an old windows multimedia cd which uses quicktime 1.06 (windows 3.11 old).
the program takes up the whole screen so i cant use the ALT+print screen skynet.
im going to use capture pro, its well worth the money for this project for me. it lets me select an area and then use a hotkey to repeat the capture. it will even cut out some of the editing i have to do, thanks Jeffbx :thumb:
screenhunter is a close second but after playing around with it for a while it looked like i needed to do more like 500 captures and screenhunter doesnt do repettetive captures. thanks anyway smurphy. its a good freeware prog
