So I use ad-aware for my computer and I still can't resolve an issue that keeps popping up in my computer. I'm VERY anal about my computer so I know exactly what I have and don't have installed.
I'm running kazaaa lite 2.0 and that's about it. Other than that, I can't find out where the ads are coming from.
It's not GAIN.
It's called messanger service.
Like an actual OK box comes out from windows that I have to press to get rid of it. Anyone have any experience from where this is coming from?
I'm thinking it's from the kazaa lite 2.0

Sorry Heihachi, it isn't spyware, It's Windows Messenger Service and it doesn't have anything to do with Kazaa.

Thanks Mpowered. Very informative.
Can you just disable it by using the Windows XP Pro firewall that comes w/ the OS?

To my experiences the built in firewall in WindowsXP is not very configurable. You can stop the Windows Messenger Service or install another firewall like ZoneAlarm.

honestly you don't EVAR need the messenger service.. They threw it in there for two reasons..
1. Network admins to send mass messages to users stating that the sysem will be down, or something of that nature.
2. Microsoft idiots put it there so your dumb roomate can send you messages while you were kicking his ass in CS and knock you out of the game..
Other than that, idiots have decided they were going to use it as a way to advertise their retarded products..
Another way to stop it also is by typing "net stop messenger" at the command prompt.. (I believe it only stops it until you reboot) so if you want to compeletely disable it, then set it to disable or manual in the services list..

That's why it bothers me so much
It hasn't happened since I turned on the firewall
