I have a really young cousin who wants to start her own little website without much HTML knowledge. Which web develop tool would you guys recommend for a beginner? I'm using Adobe GoLive but it's way too advance for her now. Thanks for the advice.

http://www.htmlhelp.com & notepad. HTML is too easy. It isn't even a programming language. It is a markup language.

Alot of people like FrontPage but I think its crap. You can even use MS Word.

I use FrontPage, and it's not that bad. It produces a lot of unnecessary code, so the pages are fatter than they need to be.

My 10-year-old daughter uses Front Page for her web site, and she never has a problem.

Your cousin can use Word, like Skynet says.

Also, if she sets up web space at a place like Tripod, they have their own templates that make web site building really easy. They're not the most attractive sites, but it's something to consider.

(One caveat about Tripod: there's no way to screen what banner pages show up there-- I set up a site there for the kids, and the popup ads were for some material that I thought was inappropriate for a kids's site.)

have her buy HTML: A Visual Quickstart

this book is by far the best book for learning HTML. It covers the basics and goes a bit further if you are still interested. Its extremely cheap as well.

I still have my copy that i use for a reference for things that slip my mind
