Ok.. I saw the new Bond movie last night (Die Another Day) and I gotta say that they are just getting worse and worse.. I don't know if it's just Pierce Brosnan as bond or what.. I thought he was good.. Goldeneye is still one of my favorite movies (well sort of.. ok.. when i'm drunk.. whatever..)
but this one.. I was just not impressed.. #1 I'm tired of Halle Berry.. just because she shows her tits doesn't mean she should be in every movie coming out.. She is a TERRIBLE actress (IMHO)
granted.. if you like bond and are a diehard fan (like me) go see it.. it's not a WASTE of money.. I just thought it might be better..
Of course I'll still buy the DVD.. but i'm glad I saw the premiere and didn't pay the 9 bux to see it..

I think the Bond series is getting a lil too commercial with all the ad placement and stuff, but as a fan I will certainly watch it at least on DVD. Did you know Brosnon's Bond contract states he cannot wear tuxedos in any movie except for Bond roles because it is semi-proprietory, lmao. Interesting tidbit I learned on Yahoo entertainment news the other day. :heh:

Trust me dude.. watch the movie.. watch the acting.. you will come apologizing to me..
And as for the other ladies you named up there .. the only one I would watch would be angelina jolie, but that sure as hell wouldn't be for her acting talent either.. I just want the breasts.. I would much prefer someone else as the bond girl.. nationality doesn't matter.. just the acting.. i mean, the other bond girl (the evil one) couldn't act her way out of a thimble.. sigh..
And as for Halle winning the oscar.. I want some of the drugs the academy was on when they saw that movie.. I don't think she did THAT great of a job on the film (though there weren't alot of other choices for best actress anyways..) Hollywood is just going downhill.. all of the great actor's/actresses are dying or getting old, and most of the young ones just plain suck..

She's an Oscar winner... therefore I think that might have a little bit to do with her popularity... baring her breasts in Swordfish didn't win her any awards (but it pretty much did help draw attention to that particular movie though.)
Either way, I don't think she's going away anytime soon... Personally, I think that she is a decent actress and is as good as many of the other "mainstream" Caucasian leading ladies.
Oh I hope to never see Julia Roberts in a Bond flick. C.Z.J. surely and Angelina Jolie could maybe make a decent villian ur something. BTW...is Halle the first black Bond chick?

I like Halle Berry :love2:
I don't think she's that bad of an actress. Don't know about her in XMEN tho...Storm's character just doesn't fit her personality.
Yeah i have to agree with the Bond series being too commercialized. Its almost like watching a commercial. :hmm:
There was a black chick in Roger Moore's first movie as Bond 1973's Live and Let Die. She wasn't the main girl though-Jane Seymour was as Solitaire. The movie was mediocre, good chase scene btw.
Yeah the whole James Bond thing has become pumping out movie after movie.

i just saw it...i loved it. my eyes were glued to the screen. that movie ruled. i am going to see it again just because it was that damn good
kain9i6 is talking about overexposure-when an actor/actress seems to be in every movie out there. It get tiresome having the same dayum people shoved down the throat.
Yeah, Halle Berry as Storm didn't fit at all.
Sure hope Berry's performance isn't as bad as Dennis Richards as a scientist in the last Bond movie. :o Talk about a laughable stretch: Denise "Vacant Look" Richards as a nuclear scientist. :heh:
Then again I don't go to Bond movies looking for great acting.
Thats the thing about many of these stars-they aren't stars due to acting ability, but due to looks. Tom Cruise, Denise Richards, Halle Berry and so on.
Halle Berry had a good performance in Monster's Ball. But to claim in the acceptance speech (http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/academy_awards/90642) that "I won this for every woman of color" Oh please. http://home.earthlink.net/~sbp777/smilies/violin.gif

Ok Grace Jones vs. Halle Berry which one would you rather look at? C'mon and be honest.
Anyone else think Halle Berry might be high maintenance?

High maintenance you ask? I'll never forget reading an article back in like '94 or something when I was a wee lad and was totally smitten with her. It quoted something to effect of "not even talking to a man who has bad fingernails". So i looked down at my gnawed nubbies and was heartbroke. I've never felt the same way about her since. (not that I stood a chance)

Well, I haven't seen the newest Bond flick but if you say that her acting was terrible, it's probably because they hired the same screenwriter as the last one. As SBP correctly pointed out, Denise Richards set acting back 50 years with her performance in the last Bond bomb(As a matter of fact I heard Mariah Carey call Richards' performance weak :heh: ) However since Berry is an oscar winner I would have to give her the benefit of the doubt on this one, and that's not just because I loves dem breastesis.
I doubt I will see this one until Netflix has it

Well you say denise richards, but again.. what kind of talent doe she have either.. look at the movies she's been in.. Starship Poopers?!?!?! Come on.. that looked like they picked the best retards in the class to be in that movie.. (granted I thought It it was a cool movie, my decision had nothing to do with anyone's acting in it.. well maybe except doogie.. cuz he rox!!!) And wild things?!?! Has anyone actually seen this movie, or did we all just skip to the lesbo scene and the orgy!??! I know I did.. held no educational value to me other than learning more ways to reproduce..
I don't know.. I'm not point fingers at just ONE actor/actress.. it's just they aren't as talented as the ones from way back.. it seems the industry is more interested in putting faces up on billboards than if they can actually do something with their so-called-talent..
it's just my 2c..

I liked the new bond. I wish he would have gotten a little more crueler. Lots of campy humour. Guns, gadgets and girls. :thumb:

That so hits the nail on the head.
Just watched the new Bond movie. Pretty mediocre, IMHO. However, Halle Berry was infinitely better than Denise Richards. That girl can never pass for a nuclear physicist. My gosh, her acting was abysmal! I thought the new actress who played Miranda Frost (Rosamund Pike) was pretty cute. :D

I don't think it was a racist thing though...so why bring it up? The idea of "she is just as good as mainstream Caucasian actresses" shouldn't even been an issue unless we still divide blacks and whites. I guess that's just me though. And I don't think she should have won that award...I think her competition was much better.

I totally agree! Angela Bassat did a GREAT job! Now thinking about it, why the heck didn't she win?
And this is just my opinion, but I think sometimes SOME african americans do make a line, and some white people do too. But in my opinion, there isn't one.

I have to disagree with you folks on some parts and agree on others. I happened to like Die another Day. It was much better than the World is not enough and it was just a good time all around.
Now, I happen to agree, I didnt like the thought of Halle Berry in a Bond movie. I dont particularly like her as an actress, never have, never will, but I had to say that her performance was a lot better than I expected.
I kind of wish they would get back to the Bond of old...not the current "non womanizer" version. As for Pierce brosman as Bond...I think he actually is one of the better Bonds.
The best bond, was of course Sean Connery, but Brosman is better than Timothy Dalton and Roger Moore. So I would have to say that he is the second best Bond of all times.

My observation of Halle Berry had nothing to do with the color of skin.. I respect your opinions and such, but don't agree with the fact that race had to be brought into it.. A white girl can suck at acting just as well as a black girl, or an asian girl, hispanic, etc.. Being an actor/actress is a profession, something learned and honed, not a trait given at birth..
I'm sorry if you saw it that way, but I don't feel like letting this perfectly legit observation turn into a war of whether the last bond girl should have been "Caucasian" or whatnot.. Anyone could have played it, but their choice, in my opinion, could have been alot better than halle berry..
This isn't a flame, and I'm not talking down to you.. like I said, I respect your opinions and like your posts.. just wanted to clear that up.

on a side note,... did anyone notice the terrifically awful korean language "acting" - i noticed that more than anyone's bad acting. :heh:
i actually liked the movie. i got what i paid for,... action, toys, women, and a semi-interesting plot/concept.

that's what i've heard most about this movie (only coming from koreans though). first of all, i think rick yune is a punk completely full of himself (i've met him before). second, he's a disgrace, but i've heard that the bond people didn't really have a choice but to use him.

I actually liked the movie....except I think they REALLY overdid it on the puns.
I liked how they fit in the theme song....when I first listened to it, I liked it....but I didn't know how they were going to fit it into the beginning.
I thought Halle Berry did a really good job as a Bond chick. The "I'm strong and will kick anyone's butt but will still melt in Bond's arms" kinda girl...:)
The action was awesome imo!

This is the first Bond Movie I won't be seeing in the theaters since Goldeneye. I have no interest from the commercials. The "you're Momma" line was just too much for me. Halle is an ok actress. Just because she one best actress doesn't really mean anything in my oppinoin, because the is not in touch with the average movie goer. THey are all old farts who wouldn't know a smash if I beat them with a baseball bat or something.
However I am sure this movie will have great action sequences.
I will wait for the DVD to rent or just wait for my friend to download it off kaazar and then I'll watch it.
