ok, so i finally told my mom what i wanted for christmas. The KBtoys xbox deal (which qualifies for $5 off of $40 for new customers)
i was going to ask for a PS2, but my littlle brother is getting one, and i could allways play his and i think the xbox graphics look better.
anyways, i need to know connection details about the xbox. any optical out? any rgb? or is it just rca outs?
can it do 5.1 or dts surround?
i will connect it to my reciever. I am just wondering how I want to connect the system to it. What brand cables do you recommend to use to connect it? Wiull the M$ cables work ok, or do i want to go out and get something thats alittle better.
besides halo, what games do you recommend?

project gothem racing, time splitters 2, serious sam :D. those will get you started once youve played through halo id check out splinter cell.
you will enjoy the box, the hard drive makes racing games awesome, cant beat listening to ur own tunage while racing vs. in game crap. :D

Project Gotham Racing sucks. Sega GT is much better, and you're likely to get that with your xbox. Also, Rallisport Challenge is the best rally game ever, if Rally is your thing.

anyone use the HD adapter kit? It includes the optical outs as well as teh HDTV support.I think i will definitely pick that up in the next few weeks.
i have since ansered most of my questions. I prefer 1st person shooters and racing games. some sports as well. I look forward to playing

what, you played it for 5 minutes and relized you actual had to have SKILL to play the game. rally games are crap. unless you require a game that you can just hold the gas down constantly to play and the course just sorta keeps you going in the right direction that kinda game is great for you.
loser.

Yeah, I have the HDTV kit. It works very well and it comes with component cables.

I also have the HD adapter and it does have optical output (i never noticed that).
As for games, I'm more of a sports fan so I have a lot of the EA sports games.
Since I have both the PS2 and the Xbox, whenever a game is multiplatform, I get the xbox version since it has better graphics and a harddrive (one notable exception is Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2; the PS2 version is better in that case).
As for xbox only games? Get Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance if you don't have it for PS2. Also get Splinter Cell and Panzer Dragoon Orta (in Jan or Feb).
But yeah, I don't think GOOD xbox exclusive games are in abundance...

And some people like Rally games, I doubt I am the only one, so stfu. Also, if you think the game is so easy, put the difficulty all the way up and see if you can win by "holding the gas down the whole time."

Damn dudes. Whats with all the playa hate'n?
Anyways, I have PGR, and it alot of fun. Just thought I'd stick up for xsiled2.
Project Gothom Racing = 86% (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/4542.asp)
Sega GT = 82% (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/5429.asp)

Don't forget that PGR was a launch title and had no competition. Segat GT has tons of competition and the expectations were higher. Read the Gamespot reviews and it becomes clear that Sega GT was the better game.

if jaggy means clean and smooth, i suppose it is.
amount of cars, OOOOOH i need a crap load of cars because i need to beat the cheesy cars with the best. PGR is hard as crap and takes forever to get into the top cars.

i havnt spent a cent on the xbox, my experience with it is at friends houses. ive played both, sure GT is good, doesnt take half the skill to go through.
And some people like Rally games, I doubt I am the only one, so stfu. Also, if you think the game is so easy, put the difficulty all the way up and see if you can win by "holding the gas down the whole time."
ok so since you and the other ONE person like rally games that will make me shut up. F*ck you, stupid yuppy prick.

I'm such a yuppy prick. Thats me alright.
Either way, you've only played these games at a friends house you don;t even have an xbox, so your opinion is void, unless ofcourse you're such a tool that you hang out at his house for hours on end playing xbox. Either option is bad.

so i get dissed for having friends, OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO big man. id say its time to stop bitching at other people and get a life.

I'm not going to argue about the games any more because teh reviews clearly shopw that Sega GT is the better game.
As for me stopping "bitching at people and get a life," I believe you were the one who started the negativity. When this arguement started I just said
Project Gotham Racing sucks. Sega GT is much better, and you're likely to get that with your xbox. Also, Rallisport Challenge is the best rally game ever, if Rally is your thing.
Then YOU were the one who turned it into a bitch fest by saying...

SO, in summary, I'll be accepting your apology whenever you get around to admitting you were in the wrong.

Does anyone else find it funny that someone that has this in their signature wants an XBOX? ;)
Just kidding ribitch!
For the record, I don't own an XBOX, mainly because I'm pretty sure that all of my free time would be spent playing it if I got one :)

yeah i know. I expected to get my ass reamed for stating i was going to get an xbox.
my brother is getting the PS2, so its pointless for me to get a second. I will be moving home in 3 weeks (i graduate college!!!!) and staying there for a short while until i can get my own place.
i dont like the gamecube because of he small discs and its too cartoonish to me. Xbox still has teh best graphics out in my opinion.
Why not go in with your bro and get a PS2 OR an XBOX to share? $200/300 that you would have spent on a second system buys a lot of games and stuff.
Me? I'm hoping my brother gets an XBOX from his GF for Christmas, then I would buy him XBOX Live. Then I'd spend a lot more time at my parent's house.

I didn't see an answer for this within the flames, but AFAIK I don't think it is. Unreal Championship just came out for XBOX and it's pretty similar. It also supports XBOX Live.
