I'm finally a proud owner of one of those cool looking American Express Blue cards. Of course one of the reasons why I got it is because of this:
-----
You’re assured the lowest price available on a covered item purchased entirely with an eligible American Express Card in the U.S. If, within 60 days of your purchase, you see the identical item in a printed, dated advertisement at a lower price than you originally paid, American Express will refund the price difference to you, up to $250 per item.
-----
Now I was reading it again yesterday and I noticed the stipulation about a "printed, dated advertisement." Does this mean that it has to be something like a newspaper ad or does "printed" also include pointint to Onvia.com's "printed" website price. I'm having trouble distinguishing the difference between a printed hard copy ad and a website's printed price (which isn't necessarily dated).

I bought a Belkin UPS from office depot, went home, looked online, found the cheapest price I could, called AMEX CS, faxed the web page with my reciept, and got a refund for the amount of the diff. .
I even asked the CSR if they 'pricematched' web sites and B&M sites BEFORE asking for a pricematch... she said 'no problem'.

Schweet! I was also looking at other Internet-type cc's like visa's eCard and their Nextcard but they don't advertise any of this price difference refund stuff. Finally, Amx. Express is good for something http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Plus, 60 days is a LIFETIME in technology... CPU prices fluctuate on a weekly basis. So in 60 days, you might be able to get a refund in the neighborhood of that 250$ (depending on the processor of course).

Check the amex web site often, as they post new BLUE 'deals' all the time.

one critical thing to remember. It is only for select itmes(there a a LOT of exceptions). Secondly, you can only use it 4x per year(not to exceed more than 1K TOTAL). Having said that. I used it for my Athlon http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif. They do take into account shipping though(so if you bought it online...they will deduct that amount from a pricematch at a B&M).
Let's say I buy an article of clothing at Banana Republic w/ my Amex Blue at full price and the price of it drops by 75% in 59 days. Am I eligible for a refund?

Is there some kind of "list of exceptions"? I sure would hate to buy something expecting a refund when it's one of their "exceptions."

Im sure if many people use the guarantee to get cheaper computer/electronics items they will SURELY exclude these items...these are the types of items that drop in price most frequently....
while I wouldnt say dont abuse this so they keep the policy, its probably best to take advantage of it while it lasts since it probably wont last long

I don't know how long the Blue card has been around but ever since Apex started promoting it he's always said that it's good to use it to buy computer parts for that very reason- their price drops are inevitable.
If they used it to exclude computer parts it seems like Apex or someone else on this forum would have said so.

Honestly, i don't remember where I bought the CPU(I ususally upgrade every 9 months or so). SO it was no biggie. I used Pricewatch and found the best site(that had a good rating from resllersratings.com). I picked the 750 because it was semi-low $243 at that time...but would drop soon afterwards(went down to $187 when I sent in for the refund). The list of exceptions came iwth your card(in the blue pamphlet). Hope that helps.
