Anyone got any good deals on in dash CD players for a car? I would prefer a good brand like Kenwood. I dont want somthing too cheap where it will skip and break in a month, but I dont want some super high end mega system.

Thanks

A good place to check would be your local SAMS store... sometimes they get some decent (read: not too high end, but not crap either) car stereos in stock. I have often wondered why someone doesn't open an online store with car stereo prices that beat the sh!t outta Crutchfield et, al. I guess the manufacturers won't let 'em (they seem to be pretty particular about who they let sell them... the high end ones anyway).

I'd try Ebay for a good Alpine. I picked up one for $120. Mine never skips, has great sound, looks very nice and even has cd-changer controls. Then pay the $30 to get it professionaly installed. Its worth it.

If you don't want to install it yourself, Circuit City or The Good Guys has free installation every few weeks if you purchase a cd player from them. We got a Pioneer one a few weeks ago for $150 installed.

If you are looking for pretty good prices on the high end Kenwoods (like the one with dolphins on the lcd) check out this site:

http://www.carmedia1.com

Pretty much the cheapest I've seen for high end stuff. The site has no pictures, just the product model number, a few stats, and a danged low price.

carmedia's prices are pretty good..., but has anyone dealt with them? Are they trustworthy?

If you have an MP3 player, a new Aiwa is the way to go....it has a nice digital input on the front, so you can listen to your favorite cds or mp3s...I think the lowest model with this feature goes for about $140...
