so lately i've been itching to play a good RPG on my comp...

i'm open to any suggestions except for mmorpg's, cuz i'm not willing to fork over any monthly fees... :D

and just to let you know, i haven't bought or played anything besides a couple of console games in the past 5 years or so, so feel free to recommend games even if they're not the most recent...

much appreciated! :)

If you have a hefty system, try Morrowind, if not try Neverwinter Nights. I vouch for both of them.

If those arent your style give Freedom Force a shot, it wasnt a typical rpg, but very good.

its all about dark age of camelot and shadowbane! Once you play those you will never turn back to modern RPG's!

AH! Shrouded Isles comes out soon, cant wait! AHH!

its so worth it!

I mean really, it is! People don't like the games usualy cause they only played it for a day or two, the quit. Its not a counter strike type of game where you log on, kill, log off. You have to put a decent amount of hours in, but once you do it pays off a thousand fold. The battlegrounds are a blast in DAoC, nothing like casting an area of effect spell and hitting 10 people at the same time!

Rumor has it, shrouded isles is being sold in a few stores, need to find out :hmm:

If you haven't yet, try the Fallout series. Baldur's Gate 2 is also good.

i just want something i can play at my own pace...

on that note, i've heard of fallout, baldur's gate, and dungeon siege, so i'll look into those as well...

Freedom Force is a good one too. It's Baldur's gate with Superheroes.

And I don't blame you for not wanting to pay them online fees. It is a turn off for some of these games. Not to mention the time you need to spend to build up your character so playing becomes more worth while.

On the other hand Shadowbane does look good, but I think I'm going to hold out for World of Warcraft since they are saying you don't need to spend tons of time online to build up your character, it can build it's self up while your not playing. That would fit my needs better.

Some of us just dont have the time to buff up a char to complete/team up with most of the hardcore ten-year-olds on the MMOPPGs.

I really enjoyed both Neverwinter Nights and Dungeon Siege. I have not played either multiplayer at any length, but I finished the single player games. They are both 3/4-view 3rd person games, Dungeon Siege being quite a bit like Diablo.

I could never get into Morrowind-too open for me. I prefer a fairly accessable plot in my rpgs, ala FF series.

Also, don't forget to get rid of the spinach dip when you get on the raft. Otherwise the hot sun will cause the mayonnaise to go bad!
