It's an extremely sad sad day for Indians fans...
Jim Thome has accepted (http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2002/1202/1470010.html) a six-year deal worth $87 million from Philadelphia. Omar Vizquel has mentioned that if Thome leaves, he, too, may be playing elsewhere next season. If that happens, not only would the Indians be losing their all-time home-run leader and a nine-time Gold-Glove-winning shortstop, but they would also be losing a great deal of maturity and leadership as well. With a new manager (who is the youngest ever in the league) and a team full of young players, there is no hope for a contending Indians team next season.
