Best Buy has the Microsoft MN-500 802.11b Access Point / 4 Port Router on sale for $119.99 with a $20 and a $30 rebate. Price match with $99 at CompUSA for a net price of $49.99 + tax.
I verified with Best Buy that a copy of the UPC is acceptable for the $30 rebate. $30 rebate expires 12/7/02.

I picked up one of these today and snuck in an even better deal. I happened to be in CompUSA earlier and saw this same item for $99 so I had the manager at BB pricematch it. The cool thing was that their price was marked as $129 so he wrote me out a little voucher for $30 off per price match policy against CompUSA. When I checked out it rang up at $119 so I got the $30 off bringing my total to $89.99. So after I send in the two rebates it will be a total of $49.99. Pretty Sweet.

Wait! My math was wrong. After rebates my total will be $39.99. Even Better!

Sweet. I'll be heading back to BB with a copy of the compusa ad.
Tech question: I know there are 802.11b bridges but could you bridge 2 routers together? It would be nice to have a router on both floors of the house for a stronger signal. I would like to try and hook up the PS2 as well.

I don't normally answer my own questions but I downloaded the user guide and it appears that this AP/Router can actually be used in bridging mode.
In my scenario, the cable modem is upstairs connected to a DLINK AP/Router.
I hope to be able to set the microsoft AP/Router into bridge mode and then connect other devices downstairs that are ethernet only (PS2 etc). Much better than running cable.
I'll try it out this weekend.
