i am assuming you are talking about fiirewire chipsets. Oxford 911 is the best perfroming to my knowledge.

Oxford 911 is for external hard drives using firewire. So if you're wondering about hard drives, as ribitch says, look for an oxford 911 chipset in the enclosure. If you're meaning firewire cards. They're all pretty much the same. Might just want to make sure it is OHCI compliant or you might run into troubles with some software.
