Me thinks it may be the ASCII code for 2? But isn't that 30something?

I get the joke, but I've heard it before.

I had to do some binary in school today, we had a final for microcontrolers, the M68HC12 to be specific. I had to know the manual like the back of my hand.

Which makes a lot of sense.

00110010 = 50 Dec = 32 Hex = 2 ASCII.
