Hey all ....

I wanted to get better air circulation in my pc and was thinking of getting round idea cables.I was reading an article the other day ,it said that not only do the round cables do "nothing" for air flow but they also cause you to have more errors due to something about not having many " earth wires" or something

Basically I wanted to know how all of you guys felt about this, or have some of you used the round cable and seen a notable temp difference or any increase in errors.

thanks again

I haven't seen any significant drop in cpu temp. I would say maybe 1 or 2 degrees but I don't if I can attribute that to the rounded ide cables. As far as errors I haven't gotten that would lead back to the cables itself.

I admit they reduce the "clutter look" inside, but sometimes I find it more annoying how it's not very flexible when I hook up two devices one on top of the other and the bend/arc/cable part is pressed up against my video card or power supply.

As far as the "earth" wires...they were referring to *ground* wires-every other wire is a ground wire. If you buy *twisted pair* rounded cables, like those on sale at SVC (http://www.heatsinkstore.com/18dualdevatr.html) You will actually shield your HD transfers much better than standard IDE cables.

As far as airflow, its more a matter of air *path* than anything else. I use nifty grounded coppermesh cables (from SVC) because:
1. they look really cool under red LED light
2. I have my case designed so air travels a very specific path to get the most out of my few fans (to keep noise to a minimum). Round cables don't get in the way this way.
3. to keep my harddrives cool-flat cables keeps air from travelling above and below them.

Has anyone seen the new Serial ATA cables? They look a lot better to me.
