I love my 32X and 48X Lite-On's and was thinking of picking up the new 52X as a gift for someone.
Anyone have an first hand experience with them, or can point me in the direction of hardware review?

This is good timing. I too would like this info. It seems my 72x TrueX Kenwood has died on my other machine. It didn't open when I tried to open it so I shut down and checked the power cable. Power cable works on other things, but not my TrueX. :( The only thing I can think of is that it got to hot because I had turned off the case fans for nose issues as I was not using that system as much anymore. The heat didn't affect the cpu or anything else that much, but I guess it did for my cd-rom.
So, ya... It would be good to get another and these Lite-ons seem good, but I haven't found a GOOD review yet. I like my Lite-On burner on this system.

cdrlabs reviews the Cendyne, which is a rebadged lite on 52. Otherwise, give me a week, I just started working on it. I can tell you - it's bloody fast at ripping.

48 to 52............
Mostly not worth paying a premium for IMO.
If they can find a way to burn from beginning to end at 52x's than we have a winner. I have read at 52 some cdrs can crack. So this is the highest were probably gonna get for cds.
Still every last nano second is worth talkin about to speedfreaks*.
