At the lab, two US researchers are working on ways to use sound to chill food.
They have produced a sonic fridge that converts very loud sounds to directly cool a fridge containing ice cream.

Man... that is pretty cool stuff. Now to get one of those and lock my brother inside. :D
Sounds of 165 dB would cause a person's hair to catch fire from the frictional heating caused by air undergoing such intense compression and expansion.
COOL! :D

Yeah, if they could figure a way to take all of that damn fan noise and use it to cool I'd be set!

That is very cool. Well, ya... I guess it is, isn't it. :P
As long as it wouldn't crack the cpu, that WOULD be a good use for the technology.

just a thought, but if you were able to cool a computer to absolute zero, would it cease to function? :hmm:
note: for all you non-chemistry buffs, absolute zero = 0 degrees Kelvin or -273 degrees celsius which causes all atomic movement to stop...

Yes, yes it would. No atomic motion doesn't mean no electron emotion. There are still subatomic motions going on. Furthurmore you'd get the benift of having all the metals as superconductors making overclocking a bit easier.
