those audio files are encripted. the only way i know to make those into mp3's are to recorde them steaming using the line in on your sound card and a program like music match. also i think sb software may be able to do this qwith out using the line in on the sound card

There is a prog that I used to record (to mp3's) some audio books from scifi.com. It's called TotalRecorder. Search from it on Kazaa / Google. I can't remember from where I got it.

Did it convert the file, or do I just have the program listen in to the playback of the book?

(sorry for the delay)
It actually recorded what came out of the wav mixer as a wav. Basically, it's a driver than captures audio. It records in realtime. So, you're hearing it through your speakers, after it passes throught Totalrecorder's capture program. Nifty idea, actually.
Yeah, Bires said what I was going to. You will end up with a WAV file, so you'll need to convert that to MP3.

ok this is the fastest way. in the newest version of Audiblemanager there is an option to burn your book to cd. Do this. The green mile took me like 11 cd's
then rip the CD's to MP3 cake and faster than real time.... but still a pain. but worth it if you want it in MP3 format. now all we need is a ring op ppl tradeing audio books online :) ....
Ps. Lots of audio books are available at your local Library.
