I got the Logitech z-560's hooked up to my system. I bought a nice set of sony headphones, not made in paticular for the computer, but I figured they would still work. Now I go to plug it in on the headphone jack and my speakers cut out, but no sound come in from the headphones. I also get no sound from the headphones when I plug them into EITHER headphone jack on my dvd player and cd burner. The last was also tried on my dads computer with the same result. When I hook them up to my stereo they work fine. Am I missing something here? Appreciate any help.

Pushed in completely and volume on the speakers and sound card was ajusted with no change. Not sure how to check the midi adapter.

What headphones are they? If they are really nice. . . they may need more power and your computer ports probably don't push enough juice to power them. You might have to get a headphone amp. However being Sony's. . . I doubt they would need an amp. Do you have to use a mini-adapter to plug them in? If so that could be your problem the adapter plug may be bad.

If you have an Audigy or SBLive make sure you go into the audio properties and select headphones.
