I was just wondering if anyone knows if there are any security measures in Office XP like there is in Windows XP. Obviously with Windows XP, you cant install it on more than one computer, because it actually maps your system..so you have to shell out money for multiple copies.
Is the same thing present in the office xp program? And no, this isnt for pirating, I own a licensed copy and just installed XP on another system and would rather install Office XP rather than Office 2000 on it.

im not sure if i understand your question completely. are you just trying to install office on one computer only or more. from what ive seen, you can only use one key on the same workgroup. i dont know about further out than that

Yes, OfficeXP is the same way. If you install it on multiple systems then try to register that over the internet (which it requires you to do), you will have problems.

If you are worried about the registration, then all you have to do is give Micro$haft a call and tell them that you had to format your hard drive and so you need to re register. That's what happened with my Windows XP, and they were super cool about it.
Btw I think Office XP Pro doesn't require the registration.

Well to clarify. My main system already has the Windows XP and Office XP SB installed on it. We picked up one of those Dell Dimension 4550's the other day, and rather then pay for the Office upgrade, we just went with the Works package to save some money. So I now have a second system (the 4550) that I want to install Office on.
I really had not thought about the XP anti piracy software (the fact that it copies the original system registry and matches it if you ever try to reinstall it.) Now, I realize that I could call Microsoft and say that I needed to reformat my system, but the reality is my Main system and the second system arent even close in specs, so if they ever checked they would see that there is a problem.
Which comes back to the original question, of whether XP also matches the registry. I remember from the original installation that I had to connect with Microsoft to authorize it...so that leads me to believe that it will present a problem. Now if all the connection does is verify that its a legal copy...it is, but if it verifies everything there is a problem.
I figure if I cant install XP I will just put 2000(Office) on it and not worry about it.

Office xp: Never even asked me to activate and i just said that i didnt want to register the product.
