View Full Version : Random mouse movements
Not sure if I downloaded a program with a bug or what, but recently at random intervals, my mouse will start move on its own. Only way to stop is to restart the computer. Any ideas on getting rid of this problem. (Next stop is to reformat the HD and start fresh...do not want to lose all the data on the HD though.)
Thanks

I had the same problem with my comp but it was cuz i was using a keyboard w/a built in touchpad and the touchpad went south on me. I would swap out the mouse before anything else.
I tried a mouse that works fine on a different computer and still have the problem. It tends to show up in graphics intensive programs: browsers, scanner software, photo software. Any hints? A bad video driver? Mouse movements seem to be the opposite of the actual mouse movements and exagerated.

Have you tried uninstalling the mouse drives and looking for an updated version? That happend to mine once and the updated driver and reinstallation fixed it.

At the time of that particular problem it was a ball mouse, I haven't had any problems with my optical at this time.
Tried everything I could think of until I came to the last option. Reformat the HD and reinstall OS. Working fine..so far.
Thanks for the suggestions. Hope they helped others.
