in a spectacular feat of jackassery, prm set his cornflakes on fire yesterday. had to go stomp them out on the porch.

good thing none of the neighbors were watching. or evilgremlin, for that matter.

we had been using the cornflakes box to stop the cold draft from the vent in the middle of the stove. he forgot to move the box before turning the large burner on HI to boil water... i smelled something for a good 5-10 minutes, but it was faint upstairs, and i thought it was a neighbor burning leaves. he smelled it too, and thought it was just me really screwing up the macaroni and cheese. it was actually the cardboard box and a good portion of the flakes consumed in 18-inch flames. heh.

just something you don't see everyday, so i thought i'd mention it.

OMG, thank goodness your house didn't burn down!

My sis did the same thing, only with a pan of homemade rolls I'd slaved all day making. Their house smelled bad for hours after.

Now, normally when something like this happens, isn't there some spectacular revelation or invention that comes out of it? Like when Charles Goodyear accidentally dropped sulphur & rubber on a hot stove and came up with the vulcanization process?

Did you check inside the box after it burned?

oh those crazy wild nights of wine drinking and chimney inspecting... add a zapped kitten and you have the perfect romantic evening.
