should i shave my chest or not? i've been working out and starting to get a little buffer and don't want to hide the results under a slightly hairy chest. i'm not all hairy or anything, i just don't like the patch down the middle of my chest. this stupid or not? i tried looking at menshealth.com and most of the posters struck me as being gay. that's not a problem, i just wanted some normal people's opinion.

Shave it. If you think it looks nasty then do something about it. Personally, I think my chest is too hairy so every so often I trim it down. Not a clean shave but enough to not look like ape. :monkey:

Shave it and see if you like it. If you do, cool. If not, it will grow back before you know it.

*shudder* i don't like guys who shave their legs... there's just something really bothersome to me when a guy has sexier, smoother legs then i do!!

as for the chest hair, i didn't like it originally, but the current guy i'm with has a bit, so i'm learning to like it. i think it's okay if the guy has some chest hair, but if he looks like a bear, it's time to wax!

I agree. Hair is manly. A straight shave is girly. Are you some sort of girly man? If you're totally above what people think about you then go for it. Just know that I'll think your a pansey.

I also think not being able to spell is manly

cheapie

i'm suprised by the number of responses so quickly. no, i'm not a girly-man. it's just that it's not real even and i was thinking that if i waxed or shaved it, it might grow back more evenly. prob. kinda dumb.

i think your right about the MH posters.

what you should do is get a beard trimmer with a thinning attachment. run that around a few times and you'll be good. plus, you don't have to do it often. full shave is high maintenance.

Ya everyone knows "bear trimers" are really "pube trimmers." I'd go fir this option if you want to trim down.

i agree with blueindian and memo, use trimmers if you can get a hold of some...

if not, try to cut it evenly with scissors (if it's even that long)...

i had to shave my knees this morning. i'm doing some physical therapy and starting today i have to have them taped up. so they told me to shave so it wouldn't hurt like hell to pull the tape off b/c it's like super glue or something.

anyhoo...it feels weird. i can like feel my pants rubbing against bare skin, which i'm not used to. kinda feels good. and when the my therapist, who is a pretty cute lady, was smoothing the tape down and massaging my knee, it definatly felt good.

my fiance says i should shave my whole leg(s), because it looks funny. which it does, i have a 6 inch stripe of bare skin with hair above and below. and she's like, "all the big guys at the gym do it". i'm not gonna though...like someone else said it's fruity.

just have to wear long pants all the time.

When I was a good swimmer we'd do it for conference finals or state. Shave down and lube up with motion lotion :). Ok, I know that sounded bad but I *AM* getting married in 5 months. Anyway, we could definitely tell a difference in speed

Don't. Make the muscle give you the definition, not the shaving.

BTW, legs are good. My first impulse was to say you need more mass, but given your sport of choice, I've reconsidered. Now me on the other hand, more is better..lol. Except I regret it sometimes when it comes to the PITA for buying pants/clothes. Nothing fits but what was custom made.

Shaving for swimming was required for Districts, States and nationals. Although I didnt get to nationals. Clippers and tons of razor blades later we pulled on our pantyhose to protect our legs for warm-up - added drag and you didnt get the sting. Then took them off for our actual races.

As for shaving hair for biking....almost all the long distance riders I know did it. They claimed it limited drag and sped them up a little, plus it stopped their hair getting pulled by the chains and lycra shorts.

Unless you are racing professionally though, there is no real need.

So a friend of mine just asked if I'd enter a triathlon with her (neither of us have ever done one). I'd have no problem with the running or biking, but I'm a terrible swimmer. And since this thread mentioned swimming, I figure I'll ask the swimmers: What would be the best way to build up swimming endurance by the end of September?

When I say I'm a terrible swimmer, I mean I'm slow. I know how to swim, I just can't do it quickly, and I imagine I wouldn't know how to pace myself either.

I don't use the nair for men on my whole leg, just from the knee down. If i don't, i look like a warewolf. lol. do you have a hairy back, too? :gle:
i mean, that happens. i know a guy with a real hairy body. we call him Poo-Bear. :D

There was this guy in high school that was almost ape-like with all the body hair he had (He was either italian or armenian, I can't remember which). Lots of people used to joke with him about duct tape and matches. He laughed with them, but I think he was a little afraid at the same time.

a-hem

As for hair on my legs, I have hardly any as it is so there is no need for me to shave them. And my calves would put both you guys to shame - even with the surgery scars.

no i have no hair on my back or chest. Just my hairy legs. LOL. So i get rid of the hair on my legs.Hair on your legs is ok, but when you have so much that you can hardly see your legs, i thinks that it needs to go. It's a new century and a lot of guys are starting to shave or use hair removal cream on there legs, chest, pits...ect. I think that if they shave their pits thats going a bit too far, but i think that if you have really hairy legs its ok.

hehe I forgot about this.

Here's one of my calf with my weiner (it likes getting in the way - it takes forever getting ready in the morning too):

Ok, now that it has been sufficiently prove that we are, in fact, big huge homos, was it not hard to take a photo where you could see the muscle definition that's there in real life?

Believe it or not, I have to do 100+ toe-raises & other calf exercises every day for my Achilles' tendon. The leg shown is the one that I had surgery on - you can just barely see the scar on the back of my ankle (the bulge on the back of my upper ankle is scar tissue).
