There are wholesalers out there that offer Car Audio Equipment for cheap. It's just not readily available everywhere.

I do not suggest best buys or circuit city for car audio because I am a fanatic. Honestly, I can suggest only two places.

One is wholesalesounds.com They offer a list of all their online auctions, and it's a easy find. It's also a store so if it comes broken or not working all that good, you can call an throw a fit.

and, audio-warehouse where they have pheonix gold amps for under $180. You can't beat that. Also a Pheonix gold EQ for under $200. WOW.
(they took the price off the Amp. those bastards.) now this one's not worth it as much. hehe

i just bought some audio stuff through www.ubid.com (http://www.ubid.com) : Rockford Fosgate BTR1210 2-Way Full Range Box With 2 10-Inch Punch Subwoofers & 2 Tweeters for $119 ($300 at crutchfield.com) and an BOSS Audio White Chaos REV-855 800w 4-Ch Amplifier for $79. shipping was a bit steep, but they are bulky and heavy items, so i guess that is expected.

You paid for a box??? OMG!!!

sorry man, like I said, I'm a audio buff. May i suggest the next system you buy not include a box. you can get dimensions and stuff like that and pay someone to build you a box for less than $50, and it will sound a lot nicer. The particle board boxes sound like $h1t. use 1/2-3/4" MDF board. sounds the best.

as for the fosgate w/punch---ok i guess, but Pheonix Gold Amps are like HIGH OF HIGH end. hehe. they are usually 1 ohm stable so if you get a 50x4 ohm amp for $200, you're really buying a 350-400 w amp under rated at 1 ohm. You may think this is low, but my furi 20wx4ohm amp bumps louder than the fosgate 75x4ohms. that's to two speakers bridged to one channel...fosgates can't handle that kinda abuse.

also caps are bad ass. and voltage boosters are cool too. for $20-50, you can get a booster that bumps your 12volt system into a 14.4 volt. what that does for watts you say? well, it makes your normal 200w amp into a 350-450 w amp. most high ends flow the best on 14.4 platform.

no real deals, but knowledge is priceless.

hey man, this is an updgrade from the factory stereo in my ford escort. anything would be better than that crap!! i don't mind paying that much for a box since i have a hatchback and have no time or tools to build one. thanks for the knowledge though!!

I believe it's Medium Density Fiberboard

Most decent home stereo speakers are made
with them.
