Ok, If I have a 2.1 speaker system, Do I NEED a 2.1 Sound Card installed on my PC?

Well you need a soundcard whether it be discrete {like an Audigy or Turtle Beach Santa Cruz} or integrated on the mobo. Anyways, you can go into the Sounds and Multimedia control panel applet and choose what your speaker setup is.

Ok, here's the problem;
I bought the creative 2.1 2500 speakers from CC today.
I hear sound from my left speaker and the sub seems to work. I hear like almost nothing from my right speakers. I quadruple-checked all my cables. All plugged in perfectly. I have mobo-integrated SoundMAX Legacy sound card. What the heck do I have to do??:bawl:

Basically you need to narrow it down to see if its the speakers or integrated sound that is messed up.

Try out the Creative 2.1 2500 speakers with another computer system and see if the right speaker works.

Try out a different set of speakers with the mobo-integrated SoundMAX Legacy sound and see what result is.

Other speakees work with the sound card: no prob.
The creative 2500's right speaker doesnt work in another computer or with my cd player. The 'speaker' is not broken, because when I switch the left/right speakers, still the right track is almost muted. Its as though there's only a left track and no right track of sound..... Should I return the speakers???

I'm not sure if you have "real player" but I had a lot of problems with it when I was installing my new sound card. Somehow it changed my settings in my control panel, the volume for the most part. Go in and check the volume and balance settings on your multi media programs.
