8500 renamed 9100?

Has anyone heard anything about the ATI 8500 getting some new life as a 9100? I read it on another board, but there was no linkage.

The Radeon 8500 aka Radeon 9100 is not DirectX 9 compliant.

Renaming the 8500 makes semi-sense since it generally performs faster than the Radeon 9000 {Pro).
