We could not think of what to get my inlaw's for Christmas. We figured on getting a cap for my father-in-law and having it embroidered with #1 Grandpa or something but couldn't think of something for my mil. Then Josh & I were at Walmart yesterday over in crafts getting some stuff to decorate his stocking with and I saw this cute little wooden fireplace facade with 5 stockings hanging from the mantle. I got it plus a whole bunch of paint & stuff. I painted the fireplace kind of a brick red/maroony color, the stockings different colors with white tops, and the mantle the same color as the fireplace but I also used a lighter color to outline bricks. Then I painted some green ivy with red berries on it across the top of the mantle.

Tonight, Scott & I took cardboard and make little presents then I wrapped them in wrapping paper. I made a back for the fireplace and painted the inside of it black. We're going to glue the presents to the front, then take some pieces of bark and glue them inside the fireplace. On the 5 stockings, we're going to use a paint pen and write Grandpa, Deanna, Mark, Josh & Grandma. (My niece & nephew plus Josh are their 3 grandkids.)

I'm REALLY excited about it! I think it looks adorable (definitely hand painted by an amateur. lol) and Josh helped me paint the fireplace, so all 3 of us had a hand in making it. :D Yay us! lol

I've got absolutely no time this year to think about gifts for anybody, I regret to say. The best I've come up with so far is the first couple volumes of "The Saint" TV show DVD collection for my brother. I remember him liking that show a lot but never being able to find it on the tube (uh, because it was BBC from the 60's, maybe?).

For my nephews, I got 8 boxes of LEGOs. Thousands of pieces... and when you are 4 to 7 years old lots of LEGOs is cool. Why my bro can pull hunderds of LEGOs out of his vaccuume cleaner, and still my nephews will have more than they could ever keep track of.

When I was a kid I always ran out when I was building something. :( I really hated that. I don't want them to have the same problem.

Well, my brother & I gave a good friend of ours a Wacom Graphire2 pen tablet -- which was really liked. :) (Our friend got it early).

I'm still hoping for the big LOTR extended editition DVD set (the 5-disc one with the bookends and such).

This is what I was talking about. :D Now just waiting for all the glue to dry. The worst is the wood glue holding the sticks in. heh

I have to admit, I kinda cheaped out this year. Didn't really have much choice though - there was a delay in getting my paychecks (new job a few weeks ago) so I only had Sunday and today to shop. Thank goodness for books and only having two avid readers to buy for...

I've found that the best presents aren't always the most expensive...I would vote for the best being the most thoughtful...one with meaning...from the heart...something that signifies something...but then again, we all have our ideas on whats best..

Don't laugh..but the best thing I gave someone this year...was something he loves the most..ice cream from Ben & Jerrys...surely not one of the most expensive presents I've ever given..but one that I know for a fact will be enjoyed...with every single bite :P
That & Goobers...to signify all those ****ty movies he takes me to see :D

...another, would be the swedish massage I gave my mom...because if anyone needs to relax and be pampered..its her..for sure...
I usually have a creative spot in me...this year was pretty difficult for all the gifts I bought.

Bought a lot of stuff. Games for all the major gaming systems. Nice clothes. Gadgets. Gift cetificates. Etc.

The gift that got the by far the most accolades was a cheap remote controlled bicycle with rider. I got it cuz my little cousin saw it while I was shopping online and kept pointing at it. Its a big, cheasy looking thing that you put batteries in the wheels and remote and it goes. I thought theres no way this thing would stand up straight, but it did and watching it, the guy looked like he was peddling( he was ). The whole family went to watch this amazing little junky gadget
.
Nobody cared about those lil remote controlled cars etc...
Only $10 spent(or so) on it. Live and learn
