I woke up this morning and they had a segment on Video Game violence on the Today show or Fox 5 news. I forget which.

Anyways they hooked up this kid to monitor his pulse and stuff. And he goes, look at his pulse which was high...181/121. He goes on to say look at the kid...he's not stressed at all and he's focused on the game. The kid is playing DOA3 and the MK:Deadly Alliance. His conclusion...Video Games make kids violent and teach them that violence is good and it's how to solve problems.

I'm like what??? How the hell do you come to that conclusion??? Put on like Nascar or some other racing game that commands your attention and focus and I bet you get the same pulse rate you rat bastard!!!

Yeah, these sensational "news" shows pretending to do scientific experiments (without proper sample size or control groups)make me sick. They present oppinion as proof and have no value to add to the arguments.

In the news yesterday they said California had the higest gun theft in the country... well, duh! California has the higest population in the country. It's not an epidemic here, it's just the averages. But they have to go and make it sensational to support the anti-gun lobby.

They should do the same study with guys watching porn...and see how their blood rates go up...among other things...

Local news has become like the town gossiper. Literally NO news-worthy information comes from those crap ass shows. It's basically a bunch of cutthroat wanna be reporters trying to make a name for themselves so they can get hired by ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX/CNN.

Screw them.

But this shows how the media will take the first bullet and aim it at video games. You could do the same study with movies or tv shows, but video games is easier.

Guns don't kill and video games don't cause violence. I don't play much games but I love action/violence movies. I'm not violence in any way!

They could do the same study with a kid watching his parents arguing...

A kid watching the news...

The media just won't come out and say, "life influences kids" because then they have nothing to report later.

:D my exact thoughts...
and Bachviet..you're right...guns don't kill & video games don't cause violence...its the warped people behind them...
My kids have always played video games..some I would gasp in horror....Like "carmegedin" or whatever it was called...where you can run over people and animals and kill people... :shake:
So far, he's almost 20 & my child shows no signs of hostile behavior and our dog still lives

The argument has been made with movies and TV countless times in the past. Video Games are not the first to be aimed at . . . just the most recent.

hell, you could put a monitor on me NOW during two person tetris and get the same result. It's why games are fun - emotional reaction. If they didn't cause a reaction, there wouldn't be much point.

My question is this.

How can they accuse Video games are practically the only source for all this animosity while many people go out and take their kids hunting?

The reason I ask this is because they made the manufacturing of video game guns for console systems illegal in the United States. The reason Silent Scope never had a sniper rifle for the ps2. If they are worrying that the youth of today are learning to shoot and lessen the value of life, why not start at the stinking people going out in their backyard killing innocent deer for sport.

My opinion...

It's not about the media, video games, or violence in movies, it's the parent's fault. If you can't have ur kid understand that there's a difference between reality and pixels on a freaking screen... DON'T GET HIM THE DANG VIDEO GAMES!

Deer=big mice with antlers {sometimes}. They are actually quite destructive not only to property but also to plants and whatnot. So do a good deed today, shoot a deer and feed the homeless. You'll be glad you did!
