on my GF4 Ti4200 with driver version 40.72:
DX8.1:
13.498060 / 31.769304 / 60.782280 fps -- Score = 31.783310 rand[23413]

DX9.0f:
12.941685 / 31.765089 / 60.561817 fps -- Score = 31.778816 rand[23413]

No big surprise, since the drivers aren't designed for DX9. Everything *seems* to work ok.
