I heard this story on the radio and on the air they failed to mention what church this bastard was working at. What ticks my tocks is that fact that had this been a priest in the Catholic church they would have said this "Yet another Catholic Priest is found guilty of Molestation." Instead I heard something like the title of the article pasted below. No mention of church. In the article from KFWB's website however they list to two churches, and yes I know that he wasn't a reverand or a priest but still.

Prosecutors File Molestation Charges Against O.C. Youth Counselor
Incidents alleged at churches in Huntington Beach from 1990-97.
FOUNTAIN VALLEY (AP) 12.21.02, 11:10a -- A youth counselor was charged with molesting a minor while volunteering at two Orange County churches, authorities said.
Scott Leon Mahfouz, 40, of Fountain Valley, was arraigned Friday on eight felony counts of committing a lewd act upon a child, continual sexual abuse of a minor, sodomy, exchanging obscene matter with a minor and possession of child pornography, authorities said.

Investigators believe the alleged abuse happened from 1990 to 1997, when Mahfouz worked as a youth counselor at Central Baptist Church and Evangelical Free Church, both in Huntington Beach. No other details of the alleged abuse were released.

Investigators searched Mahfouz's home computer and found more than 200 pornographic images depicting young boys, police said. A hidden camera and videos showing boys at his home also were seized, police said.

Police have identified one other possible victim and believe several others remain unidentified, police Lt. Kim Brown said.

"Our concern is that there are other victims who might not know that these charges have been filed, and our hope is that these victims will contact us," Brown said.

Mahfouz was released Friday on $100,000 bail. He faces up to 27 years in prison if convicted.

Regardless he is one sick puppy and I am glad he is being taken care off.

Apparently, the moderator of "America's Most Wanted" has an afternoon TV show whuch my mother watches. She said he was really ticked at how the Catholic church is protecting these pedophiles and is wondering why they aren't going to jail, like other perpetrators who commit similar crimes?
So I asked a Catholic friend of mine what he thought. He stated that the Catholic church is very powerful in this country and they also have lots of money. He said that they are capable of getting to certain groups and making sure that certain crimes "Slide".
BTW, if someone has a reasonable explanation, I would love to know.

Here's one for you :hmm: ...seeing as my scanner is broke..I have to type this out...In yesterdays newspaper, the following was written:

Concord, N.H. - Questioned under oath about the church abuse scandal, NH bishop suggested that it is less serious for a priest to have sex with someone from outside the parish than with a parishioner. In a deposition, Bishop John Mccormack said he knew the Rev.Roland Cote had had sex with a teen-age boy but noted that the boy was not a parishoner. "You know, one is an activity where you have a trusted relationship with a parishioner. The other is an activity where you're away from the parish and you're off on your own,"McCormack said in depostions obtained by the Associated Press on Monda. " I'm very concerned about that; he was a young person. But its quite different from being with a parishoner." McCormack spokesman Patrick McGee said Monday that a priest having sex with a parishioner involves exploitation.
 :hmm:

It sounds like the church has found a new way to attract children to the chruch. "Join or we'll molest you"

I'm just kidding though. Really though it's like someone trying to plead not guilty to murdur by saying "Yes I killed him but at least I didn't rob him.

Amazing isn't it...how they can turn it all ...
or...
I say if Priests insist on continuing to molest..we cut off their "penis's" and we make an offering to God like they did in Biblical times...right on the alter...
I'd say that would be a pretty fair punishment for the crime...

The Vatican art collection alone is worth billions. The Pieta by Michaelangelo or the Augustus Prima Porta are each priceless.

Dont forget about real estate. Nearly every town in the US and Europe and South America has at least one Catholic Church and usually on the choicest real estate going. Plus the Vatican itself, I couldnt imagine what that real estate is worth on the Palatine hill in Rome. Then when you consider that many churches themselves are works of art, Sistene Chapel, San Vitale etc. the value sky rockets.

Individual diocese might be in financial trouble but the church as a whole still has some good distance on Microsoft and probably has some good distance on a majority of the countries in the world.

I'm sure that in the US the Churches weekly income isnt what it was maybe 10 years ago, but I don't think its hurting for cash, nor will it be hurting for cash anytime soon.
