Any place for cheap radar detectors?

Anyone know where I can find a cheap radar detector? Can anyone give me some tips about them too. I don't know much about them but I drive up and down from S. California to N. California all the time. It might help me from getting am speeding tickets. Thanks to anyone who can help!!

I don't know how much you want to spend, but you can use some amazon GCs and buy one from amazon.
http://www.radartest.com/ has a review on some of the newer detectors. I'd go with Beltronics.

Don't get a cheap one. Get a good one, and pay for it. I've bought cheap units before and they just don't stack up. I now own a Bel 880. I LOVE IT. It was about $130, but worth every penny, it gives you plenty of warning. The other brand models that sell for around $50 SUCK. don't waste your money, you'd be better off putting the money towards a ticket than wasting it on a cheap model. get a BEL or Valentine 1 .

I'm a total stranger to radars, but I'm interested since I recently got a BRIGHT ASS yellow Xterra and have had to watch my speeds. How much time in advance does a radar detector give you? Are they illegal or are they take away if you are caught with one? Any additional info would be really appreciated. Thank you!
