Hi:
I'm looking for a new notebook for school and I found a presario 1700 series (17xl260 for $1749 and the 17xl265 for $1999, the first comes with a 13.3 screen and a PIII 500, the second comes with 14.1 screen and a PIII 600 speedstep).
Are these good deals and are there any better out there? (I used pricewatch to find these). Also, any experience with the compaq laptops. Thanks.

This is in no way mean or bitter, but you really need to use the search function in the forum, this topic was discussed a couple of posts ago.

Hi:
Sorry, but I did search the old posts and didn't find another topic that matched what I was looking for. If it helps, I'll try to be more clear with the topic title in the future. Any posts on deals on the compaq presario series notebooks would still be appreciated. Thanks.

in your search, next time type in laptops rather than notebooks. Apex had a really helpful response for me on that post. About a week ago I think, I'm in the process of looking for a laptop too. Where did you see those Compaqs? Costco? I saw some there.

From people that have Compaq's they recommend stay with a main manuf i.e.
IBM,Toshiba,Dell.
Like stated before on other posts:
You can pick up good deals from auctions
on www.ubid.com (http://www.ubid.com) and www.egghead.com. (http://www.egghead.com.)
www.onvia.com (http://www.onvia.com) has also started doing some auctions.
Good luck...

Dont get a Compaq.. they make the worst laptops and desktops (other than Packard Bell that is). Stick with Dell or the IBM Thinkpads
