Deion Sanders is expected to arrive at Raiders camp today to discuss joining the team for the playoffs, a team source said.

Sanders, 35, last played in 2000 for the Washington Redskins and has been working as a CBS studio analyst for the past two seasons. He made seven Pro Bowls as a cornerback and won two Super Bowls -- with the 49ers after the 1994 season and with the Dallas Cowboys the following year -- in 12 seasons.

``I may come back to a playoff team,'' he said on CBS. ``I've made contact, I have spoken to my attorney, we have spoken to the Oakland Raiders.''

Raiders senior assistant Bruce Allen said, ``No, I can't say it's false. Yes, he did say that, didn't he? I think he's always liked the Raiders. I think he's having some fun imagining the possibilities. Everything is possible. Earlier in the week, we were short on corners.''

The team source said the word last week was that Sanders would join the team if it clinched a playoff appearance Sunday. The Raiders won their third consecutive AFC West championship by beating Denver 28-16 and can clinch the conference's top seed -- and a week off and home games throughout the playoffs -- by beating the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.

i'd be interested to see if deion's toe is completely healed and he has his speed back, or if he's still a step slow like he was when he retired.

if he's still a step slow.....forget it buddy. don't bother.

"Decline Time" Sanders played poorly when he last played.

When the next season started, he couldn't drag his lame butt into training camp, then collected 7.5 million of the signing bonus! Now he'll come back but only for a playoff team. Typical. http://home.earthlink.net/~sbp777/smilies/disgusted.gif

Future Hall of Famer Green is retiring and still better than most cornerbacks. People are still scared of the 42 year old Green.

Both Darrel Green and Deion Sanders were great players. When both were in their prime I'd take Darrel Green over Sanders. Green has shown himself to be a team leader and is a class act on and off the field. Thats not to say Sanders is not, but with Green it stands out and its been his way of living. Green also has took care of business for far longer {20 years!) than Deion Sanders. Sanders was more concerned with himself and running the mouth. That was fine back in the day when Sanders could talk the talk and walk the walk, but no longer. Plus Sanders is 35 years old. Is what happened in the lackluster way Sanders played in his last year an anomaly? One other thing would Sanders showing up be good for a teams chemistry epecially this late in the season? Basically it gets down to a flamboyant showoff who wants the attention versus a humble working team oriented man.

It a moot issue for now since Deion Sanders won't be joining Raiders (http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/nfl/20021224-1421-fbn-raiders-sanders.html)
