I have been unable to do any Windows Updates for a couple of weeks. I can start Windows Update, scan for any updates available, select the ones I want and then click on install. I get the accept the license agreement and I click on OK. The download progress meter comes up and never starts downloading. Download progress screen just sits there forever and never makes any progress. No error messages appear. I have tried every fix I could find on the net but none worked. Has anybody had this same problem and found a fix that would work? Would appreciate any suggestions. I have worked on this problem all day without any luck. Tried to many things to list. If its on the net, I tried it. I have 5 recommended and 1 critical sitting there but can't get them to come down.

Windows XP Pro
Explorer 6
SP1 installed

Try installing the IEv6.01 Update then the Windows Update.

You can also try to enable Automatic Update and let the OS find the updates for you. I was having trouble updating my laptop and went that route. After the first update it identified, I no longer had any problems. I was able to disable Auto Update and go back to manual.
