Whats your best remedy for a sore throat ? I have a friend who gets them frequently during the cold & flu season...Any of you have a good remedy that works other than the over the counter stuff ?...


I have one... Get a shot glass...fill it with 3 parts Lemon Juice, whiskey, & honey...warm in the microwave...and whooooolaaa...
will cure something..not sure if its your sore throat...but its helped a cold before... :D

So any "safe" remedy for sore throats will be appreciated.

get some salt, put it in a cup, pour some warm water into it...gargle.

I had a real bad sore throat for three days, but it went with a horrible cold that just ended today. I tend to think that this cheap prescription medication called Guaifenesen, which drains your sinuses is what did the trick. Or it may have been the Colloidal silver spray or the combination of the two.

I totally agree with gargling with salt water-and also with the hot water,honey and lemon, but as a child, my grandfather swore by what we used to call Rockin Rye..which was basically rock candy melted in about an ounce or so of RYE liquor..tasted like hell, but knocked us out for a day or two so that we forget about our sorethroats by the time we woke up.

Guaifenesen doesn't do much for a sore throat.It's an expectorant-that's the active ingredient that actually loosens mucous from blocked bronchial tubes..
Robitussin has it in some of it's different brands-but if you want POWERFUL guaifenesen (for smokers with colds, and for really bad chest congestion) look for an OTC medicine called NALDECON-EX, and NALDECON SENIOR X, which is one of the highest doses of guaifenesen you can buy without a prescription. I seem to think it's about 200 mg of expectorant per teaspoon. AND IT WORKS GREAT.
