i'm still getting painfully slow speeds on Apex sometimes. Here's the deal though, it's only when I'm on a computer with cable modem from Road Runner. From work on the T1, speeds are normal. On a friend's dsl connection, it's fine. on 56k, speeds are good for that type of connection.

but, on any road runner box, it's slow. anyone else have this issue still?

yes-and the wait is killing me..
I wondered if it was only my RR connection that was lagging. The worst part is waiting to respond to a post because the POST REPLY button still hasn't loaded on the page...ARRGH!

Yup . . . I'm having the same issue. My computer at work, my mother's place & my father's place all load GA fine . . . but back at my place (with RR) it takes ages . . .

I just got DSL and it's about 10 ten times slower than 56K:confused: at GotApex

I'm on DSL and the speeds are great for me...

Of course, I had RoadRunner last year and HATED it, which is why I switched to DSL. :)

yeah, i have no problem with RR. any other site is good. the slowness all started for me back around the same time others were posting about it.

i've all but quit posting or looking at home.

I'm on RR, and for every other site that I frequent, it is super fast. Starting a few weeks ago, G|A loads super slow, on the order of 10 sec/page. If I surf at work, (not that I would do that...:shifty: ) G|A loads as fast as anything else. Did something change? and is there any way to speed things up?

The loading problem also affects PCA.

I have it happen when I view throught Phoenix, with blocked ads, and without. It also happens when I view it through IE6. Both from home. My mom's computer does the same thing when she hits the site up, and she's running IE6 also, with a RR connection (attbi to be exact)

It's weird.

is PCA cable? maybe the problem is on all cable modem connections.

That may be it! When I got the CD from Verizon, it automatically upgraded my computer to IE6, and that's when I started having problems.

Update: I went to Security under Tools:Connections and changed it to Medium-Low and it appears to be a lot faster.

Work great with me. I got Comcast and the only slow site I get is Best Buy. That's a painful loading time.

Painfully slow with RR here at home but is fast with Bellsouth DSL at work. I have IE6 on both home and work computers and I think my security settings are the same for both. I started noticing awhile back when everyone else was having trouble and then it got better at work but stayed bad here at home.

Ditto. I think I'm on RR in houston, TX, but my cox connection in Virginia is fast on G|A?

Why is this?

Cogent's site is slow for me, too.

So here's the deal:

AOL/TimeWarner dropped Cogent from their backbone peering agreement. Soooo, if you're on RR, you're going to hell and back to get to anything that is running on a Cogent connection. And it'll probably stay that way until someone gets an agreement together with Cogent.
