If you are rich get the p4 system, if you are poor, get the AMD. I'm suspecting the AMD system would outpreform that p4 system too, though the difference is negligable due to teh fact that the system is badass.

its not more then a 50-60 dollar difference in price so either way is good ... i just dont know what motherboard i should buy ... i want a dual channel granite bay mobo but i dont know which one i should get and where ... its too hard to look them up on pricewatch ... they always bring up crap when i do a search ... and i got those prices from gameve.com and googlegear.com

I was talking to my brother about the Asus a7n8x and he prefers it over the a7v8x. The other thing he did mention is that to get the most out of the a7n8x is to use two 256-3500 sticks of ram. I forget the technical term he used but it works faster with that configuration in that mobo...

:bandit: Your system sounds a lot like the one I am putting together- only mine is not quite as top-end.
Asus A7N8X motherboard
AMD 2400+ (2.0gb)
2x Corsair XMS 2700 256mb C2
(I read that the DDR 333 works better because it is the same frequency)
Radeon 9700 (not Pro) -about $100 less than Pro- just has a bit slower memory
West Dig 80gb HD w/8mb buffer
Case: Antec Performance Plus 1080 w/ 430w True Power,2 rear, one side fans
Ikebana DVD/CD+R/+RW internal drive

I was also told that...

Not really. Its just that when you overclock you ideally want the RAM and the FSB to be on teh same frequency, aka in sync. I don't think it matters in this case, as it will just slow the pc3200 down to 333mhz speed anyway.

Im actually fairly sure the other guys are right, I cant remember why exactly, but yes, the 333mhz (2700) sticks of ram perform better than stuff that is higher clocked when in dual channel mode (the pairing of two sticks for extra bandwidth).

:bandit: Here's one of the reviews comparing different nVidia boards and different memory. I saw another one that had the same results with DDR 333. http:/www6.tomshardware.com/mainboard/2021111/index.html
They also say be sure to use CL2 memory.

Sorry about the typo in the previous link.If this still doesn't work, the review is titled "Athlon in the Fast Lane: Three Motherboards with nForce2-Chipset and Dual DDR"
