I'm redoing my kitchen...I'm down to slats & horse hair...open beams, pipes showing..the works...
I've been living the "ghetto/rustic" look for a little over a year now ( we won't get into that, that's a whole new topic in itself ) ...with a little push n shove by the year 2023 it might be finished :shake:

Anyhow, after looking at the open wood & beams for so long, it sort of grew on me....I was wondering if the "wood" ceiling would look stupid ....instead of a white ceiling...I sort of like the wood/beam look...

Watcha think

well that depends on what kind of beams and wood you have! ..personally, in the kitchen, because of the various smells that can occur from cooking, baking, burning stuff....it's always smart to have some kind of "barrier" between the ceiling of one floor and the floor of another-I have old tin ceiling tiles in my kitchen, but the rest of the rooms are more plaster than anything else..for the noise barrier alone-I would say definately sheetrock or something.

I think the post and beam look is very nice, But I have to agree with the previous post that the kitchen is a playground for odors and noise, maybe a sheet-rocked textured ceiling will do the trick for you. i also suggest while you have the ceiling wide open that you do install a fan over the stove that is vented to the outside of your home...
