hey guys, i just bought a p4 2.53ghz cpu retail. it comes with the retail heatsink/fan and i was wondering if that's going to be enough. it's been a while since i've had an intel cpu and i know that athlons would definitely require a better hs/fan than the included retail one. thanks!

So long as its intel certified (yours more than likey is, unless the jerks wo sold it to you switched it up. just look for the intel logo) The standard heatsink is very good, very good. I believe you can do moderate overclocking, but if you are serious about overclocking it would be best to invest.

On my retail HSF:

P4 1.6A-->2.12 Cool, 2.30 Warm, 2.45 Hot

i'm fairly sure i'll be getting an intel certified. i ordered the retail box so that thing (hopefully) will come still sealed. thanks for the advice guys. i doubt i'll be doing an oc'ing so i'm gonna stick with the retail hs/fan. thanks again!
